The 20-foot container (also known as a 20ft container or TEU – Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) is one of the most commonly used standard containers in global freight transport. With an external length of approximately 6.06 m, a width of 2.44 m, and a height of 2.59 m, it offers approximately 33 m³ of cargo volume and can typically transport up to 21–25 tons of payload, depending on the design and regulations.
Made of robust steel, the 20ft container is stackable, weatherproof, and lockable. It is suitable for the transport of goods by ship, rail, or truck, as well as for stationary storage. In addition to the standard version, special versions are also available, for example, with side doors or as a high-cube version (with more interior height).
Thanks to its compact size and high flexibility, the 20-foot container is a central component of logistics worldwide and can be used in a variety of ways – from freight transport to mobile storage solutions.
