The Cat D8 is a medium-sized tracked dozer with an operating weight of approximately 39.5 tons in the standard version and approximately 38.1 tons in the LGP (Low Ground Pressure) version. It is powered by a Cat C15 diesel engine with a net output of approximately 271 kW (363 hp) and meets current emissions regulations. The fully automatic 4-speed transmission with lock-up clutch ensures efficient power transmission.

The fuel tank has a capacity of 627 liters, and the DEF tank has a capacity of 33 liters. In the standard SU version, the dozer features a semi-universal blade with a volume of approximately 10.3 cubic meters and generates a ground pressure of approximately 89.7 kPa with 610 mm track shoes. The LGP version operates with wider 965 mm track shoes, a blade volume of approximately 9.9 cubic meters, and a reduced ground pressure of approximately 54.6 kPa.

There are also variants with waste disposal modules, which offer a larger blade volume of up to 21.2 cubic meters and ground pressures between 59.6 and 83.7 kPa. The reinforced frame with a raised drive carrier ensures improved driving stability and power transmission, especially in challenging terrain. The cooling system is designed for environmental compatibility.

The current generation is equipped with modern technology packages, including integrated 2D and 3D grade control systems and improved cab interfaces for consistent operation. Combining high thrust, innovative technology, and comfort, the Cat D8 is a versatile mid-range dozer.
