The Cat D5K2 is a compact track-type dozer with an operating weight of approximately 9,300 kg for the XL version and approximately 9,400 kg for the LGP version. It is powered by a Cat C4.4 ACERT diesel engine with a net power of 77.6 kW (104 hp), which meets EU Stage IV and US Tier 4 Final emission standards. The hydrostatic drive system enables precise control at a maximum forward speed of approximately 9 km/h and a reverse speed of approximately 10 km/h.

The machine features a high-performance hydraulic system with a flow rate of up to 67 l/min and a maximum system pressure of approximately 206 bar. The blade variants offer a loading volume of approximately 2.2 m³ for the XL version and approximately 2.4 m³ for the LGP version. The wider undercarriage components of the LGP version reduce ground pressure to approximately 27 to 31 kPa, while the XL version's pressure is around 38 kPa.

The D5K2 can optionally be equipped with a parallelogram ripper, which achieves a digging depth of approximately 340 mm with up to three tines. The chassis with dual-reducing final drives and automatic traction control ensures reliable performance on a variety of surfaces.

The spacious and ergonomically designed cab is equipped with an air-suspended seat, air conditioning, rearview camera, LED work lighting, and a modern display and control system. Features such as Eco Mode, Slope Indicate, and automatic blade control increase precision and efficiency during operation.

Maintenance and service points are accessible from ground level, facilitating daily inspection and maintenance. The D5K2 combines a compact design with high performance and is particularly suitable for use in confined work spaces or on sensitive ground.
