Ferruccio Lamborghini, who had already achieved legendary status with the Miura P400 and Miura S models introduced in 1966, surprised the world in the spring of 1971 with the new Countach LP500 super sports car. Demand for the Miura remained high, however, and that same year Lamborghini further developed the Miura into the Miura SV, which featured wider rear fenders, a separate transmission and lubrication system, and an engine boosted to 385 hp.
