The first generation of the Cefiro (model A31) was launched in 1988 and was primarily aimed at the then-popular target group of "DINKS." It was a sophisticated car with no clear class classification and featured the Cefiro Coordination System, which allowed the free combination of engines, interior and exterior trim, and design elements such as headlights with crystal glass covers. Thanks to its FR layout, it was later used as a base car for drift racing both at home and abroad, alongside the Laurel and the Silvia of the same era. Even today, some 30 years after the release of the second generation, the popularity of the first-generation model remains unbroken.
