The Isuzu Bellett 1600GT was launched in 1964 and competed with the Skyline for the title of "Japan's first GT." Its European design and advanced engineering, such as four-wheel independent suspension, attracted attention, and it became known as the "Belle G," a car highly regarded by car enthusiasts of the time. In 1969, the most powerful version, the 1600GTR (or GT Type R depending on the model year), appeared. It was equipped with the G161 DOHC engine from the previously released 117 Coupé. It remains a symbol of good old '60s culture and remains highly popular with passionate fans.
