The Nissan Fairlady Z was launched in the fall of 1969. It was fundamentally different from previous open-body Fairlady models, offering a closed body and car-level comfort features. At the same time, it was powerful and affordable, fundamentally changing the face of sports cars worldwide. In 1974, a four-seat 2x2 version with an overall length that was 310 mm longer was added and became a best-seller. The first generation, produced until 1978, is considered the most successful sports car of the 1970s.
