The BCNR33 Skyline GT-R was launched in 1995 as a complete model update of the BNR32. In a time trial at the Nürburgring, it achieved a time of 7 minutes and 59 seconds. The time difference compared to the previous model led to the slogan "Minus 21 seconds of romance." The unique features of the BCNR33, such as the larger overall width and wheelbase compared to the previous model, as well as the high driving stability due to the increased rigidity of the chassis, again attracted attention.
